Every week I receive emails from those of you interested in becoming a wedding planner.  Many people are looking for something new and are wondering if wedding planning is right for them.  So I decided I would start to blog on becoming a wedding planner.  I can answer questions for those of you who are interested in getting into the business, and give ideas for those who are already in the business.  Please email me your questions and I will do my best to answer as many as I can.  Wedding planning is an amazing business, it allows me to meet so many different types of people and be apart of such an amazing time in their life.  As great as this may sound, you are also working with people during a very stressful time in their life, and this can be very challenging.  As with any carer, wedding planning has its days.  But nothing compares to watching a brides face as she walks into a room she has been dreaming about for the last 30 years.  I can’t wait to be able to answer questions for those of you interested in the wonderful world of weddings.

Budgeting

May 14, 2008

Have you looked at your wedding budget lately trying to find a way to cut costs?  I thought I might give you some ideas on where you should first look to cut costs.

1.  Cut your guest list.  Make sure you really want to invite all the guests you are anticipating.  The number of guests effects you rentals, catering and floral.  Cutting back on the number of guests can dramatically change your overall total.

2.  Champange Toast.  When is the last wedding you went to and you could not wait for the champange?  I would guess, never.  You might want to just have the guests toast with what they are drinking and only do a toast for the peopel actually giving a toast.

3.  Bar.  To cut back on the overall bar cost you might want to host beer and wine only.  This will allow you a little bit more control over the alcohol cost, and still allow your guest to feel as if they are being taken care of.

Tommorow I will post on where not to cut your costs!  Hope this helps.

Mindy Weiss, a wedding planner to the stars, and Two’s Company have teamed up to offer brides amazing new products. One of my favorite products is the “Unforgettable” Sticky Notes Booklet. It is the perfect thing to have as you are looking for great ideas in some of your favorite books and magazines. The sticky notes are preprinted with: I Do, Must Have, Love It, Maybe, Great Idea, Perfect and Unforgettable. I hate having to look through every page of a 200 page magazine for a photo that I loved and I know is on the upper right hand side… well… somewhere on the right…

The other must have product is the “Emergency Kit”. There are hundreds of things to remember on the day of your wedding and the last thing you want to think about is everything that can go wrong. This kit will allow you to not have to worry about some of those unexpected events. The kit contains everything from aspirin to tampons… and can be used after your wedding as a great travel kit.
