When planning your big day one good thing to try is going to your favorite place. Maybe for you it’s a local coffee shop, park, or store. Take the time to think about all the things you love. New ideas and tips are just around the corner…

Every week I receive emails from those of you interested in becoming a wedding planner.  Many people are looking for something new and are wondering if wedding planning is right for them.  So I decided I would start to blog on becoming a wedding planner.  I can answer questions for those of you who are interested in getting into the business, and give ideas for those who are already in the business.  Please email me your questions and I will do my best to answer as many as I can.  Wedding planning is an amazing business, it allows me to meet so many different types of people and be apart of such an amazing time in their life.  As great as this may sound, you are also working with people during a very stressful time in their life, and this can be very challenging.  As with any carer, wedding planning has its days.  But nothing compares to watching a brides face as she walks into a room she has been dreaming about for the last 30 years.  I can’t wait to be able to answer questions for those of you interested in the wonderful world of weddings.

Budgeting

May 14, 2008

Have you looked at your wedding budget lately trying to find a way to cut costs?  I thought I might give you some ideas on where you should first look to cut costs.

1.  Cut your guest list.  Make sure you really want to invite all the guests you are anticipating.  The number of guests effects you rentals, catering and floral.  Cutting back on the number of guests can dramatically change your overall total.

2.  Champange Toast.  When is the last wedding you went to and you could not wait for the champange?  I would guess, never.  You might want to just have the guests toast with what they are drinking and only do a toast for the peopel actually giving a toast.

3.  Bar.  To cut back on the overall bar cost you might want to host beer and wine only.  This will allow you a little bit more control over the alcohol cost, and still allow your guest to feel as if they are being taken care of.

Tommorow I will post on where not to cut your costs!  Hope this helps.

Gown Fitting?

May 14, 2008

You found the perfect dress and every time you try it on you look in the mirror at an angle, suck it and decide you will pose for all of your pictures only from the right side. WHAT!? You should be able to relax on your wedding day. You wonder how all the movie stars always look so great on the red carpet, they have secrets too! SPANX! Seriously, this is a must have!

With endless possibilities, look at all your options to see what would fit your body the best! Then breath, look great and even enjoy the food!

Most of you have probably been a bridesmaid before, or at least have heard the stories. I don’t know how many brides have told me horror stories about being a bridesmaid in the past. How many times have you heard a bride say “I thought you could wear again”. How often would you really wear a bright magenta dress with a petty coat? Well, I thought I might give you some great ideas for finding a bridesmaids dress that really could be worn again.
